FAQ’s for Garden Visitors
Never been to an open garden before? Let us fill you in on what to expect…
What will I see on the day?
Our gardens will demonstrate a range of productive suburban food growing spaces, please don’t expect manicured show gardens. Early Autumn is usually the most bountiful time of year in local gardens so things may be looking a little wild – but very delicious!
How can I get a ticket?
Tickets will be available for purchase at this webpage from Friday 16th January 2026. Tickets will be limited and must be secured online before the trail day. Ticket are unable to be purchased at garden gates on trail day. All attendees must be registered – if your name is not listed on trail day you will be refused entry.
Is there a Seniors / Pensioner / Concession ticket?
All adults can enjoy the concession price of $10 per person. Children under 18 years old are free.
How will I decide which gardens to visit?
Each participating garden in the Trail Program will have key features listed – and you’ll receive this program the week prior to the event so you’ll have plenty of planning time.
Can I bring my kids?
Children are welcome but must be supervised at all times. Some gardens may have ponds, bees and other hazards. We are planning special children’s activities for the day!
I don’t want my photograph taken
There will be photography and videography during the course of the day. If for any reason you do not wish to be filmed or photographed please advise the volunteer on duty at the garden.
Will there be guided tours at each garden?
Some Garden Hosts may run tours throughout the day, but all will be on hand to answer your curly questions about keeping chooks, seasonal challenges, fruit tree netting, fertilising citrus and much much more!
Can I pick food or flowers at the gardens?
Please respect the generosity of our Garden Hosts and refrain from taking anything from the gardens.
Can I bring my dog / cat / other pet?
Please leave all pets at home except for service animals. Please make a note at time of booking if you’ll be bringing a service animal with you.
Will there be food or plants for sale?
Food won’t be available at the gardens but some gardeners may have seeds or plants for sale.
Are the gardens suitable for wheelchairs / prams?
Accessibility will vary from site to site. Specific garden information will be provided in the lead up to the day.
Will there be toilets available?
Toilet facilities are not available at the gardens, the closest public toilet location will be noted on the Trail Program.
Is there a shuttle bus?
At this stage there are no plans for a bus. We suggest that you drive between gardens, car-pooling where possible.
